Their innovative and powerful mixture of Psychedelic and Progressive Rock along with mild experimental or Jazz influences gained some international recognition in Germany, UK and the U.S.. Comparisons might be drawn to Traffic, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd and Colosseum (Dag Erik Asbjornsen).
Their eponymous (2nd) album from 1970 was recorded in London with famous DJ John Peel and Tony Reeves (of Colosseum fame) as the producers. Six epic tracks, such as ,,Rotating Irons" (8:25) and ,,Secret Oyster" (9:45), both offering interesting and exciting interplay between sax and keyboard player Karsten Vogel, flautist, trombone and tenor sax player Kim Menzer and extraordinary guitarrist Ole Fick, driven by an absolute tight bass and drums rhythm section formed by Jess Staehr and Bo Thrige Anderson. Karsten Vogel`s versatile songwriting (he composed 5 out of 6 tracks) dominates and he also had not forgotten to write enchanting ,,pop" songs either - ,,Near the Sea" is a minor masterpiece of 4 minutes. Album comes with comprehensive linernotes by Karsten Vogel and rare photos on the insert. The music is warm and mild remastered. Don`t miss this top highlight of Danish Progressive Rock music. Hightly recommended!

W.W.W. https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/w-w-w/ Thu, 21 May 2020 22:00:00 +0000 http://guerssen.hl1097.dinaserver.com/product/w-w-w/ Burnin Red Ivanhoe in their most fertile phase of existing from 1969 till 1972, were one of Danish finest groups from the period. W.W.W. from 1971 was the band`s 3rd album with an unchanged line-up. It was their most progressive offering with even more instrumental parts than before. Great soloing by brass player Vogel and Menzer duelling with guitarist Fick moves the music to the next higher level, a holy mass for all lovers of progressive music with slightly experimental or jazzy influences, all fantastic sounding! Hightlights are ,,2nd Floor, Croydon" (8:25), title track ,,W.W.W." (6.05) and ,,Oblong Serenade" (6:15). How the truly forward-looking album title was found tells Karsten Vogel in his notes. Album comes with comprehensive linernotes by Karsten Vogel and rare photos on the insert. The music is warm and mild remastered. Don`t miss this top highlight of Danish Progressive Rock music. Miley Smile / Stage Recall https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/miley-smile-stage-recall/ Thu, 23 Jul 2020 22:00:00 +0000 http://guerssen.hl1097.dinaserver.com/product/miley-smile-stage-recall/ Burnin Red Ivanhoe, in their most fertile phase of existing from 1969 till 1972, were one of Denmark's finest groups from the period. Being tired of demanding tours, Burnin Red Ivanhoe decided to disband in spring 1972. Before this they recorded 'Miley Smile/Stage Recall' during an eight hour session live in the studio on 16/4/1972. Apart from a short rendition of 'Ivanhoe I Brondbyerne' from the first album 'M144', all material was fresh from their current tour programm including some never before released titles.

This album underlines the band's perfect live play abilities, the exceptional skills of the musicians playing their instruments. For more than 2 years this was the band's last recording, as Karsten Vogel started a new band with new musicians: the also highly appreciated Secret Oyster (5 albums, all on Long Hair, CD and vinyl versions).

The album comes with comprehensive linernotes by Karsten Vogel and rare photos on the insert. The music was warmly and mildly remastered. Don't miss this highlight of Danish progressive rock music. Hightly recommended!
