The orchestra director and musical editor is been active for at least 30 years and his majestic opus an overwhelming data for any avantgarde freak or moviegoer obsessed. While studying piano and composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, he befriended Ennio Morricone and formed a long working relationship, with Nicolai eventually conducting for and co-scoring films with Morricone. Nicolai also scored a number of giallo exploitation films and wrote many scores for director Jesús Franco. His work was featured in the Quentin Tarantino films Kill Bill: Volume 2 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Tension! Pretty much what this whole record is all about. An imaginary soundtrack that turned out to be an in-demand obscure library, Rendez Vous shows up the many skills of the composer and his alumni. Possibly Morricone is playing muted trumpet in several episodes - Diffidenza and Subdolamente - absorbing thrilling experiences similar to the Maestro soundtracks for Dario Argento early movies (not a case that Nicolai was the conductor for several adventures in movie sound theatre such as 'L'Uccello Dalle Piume Di Cristallo', ' Il Gatto A Nove Code' or '4 Mosche Di Velluto Grigio').

Rendez Vous is now to be ranked among the most adventurous Nicolai soundtracks, a unique combination of classic contemporary arrangements and superb jazz noir sketches.

Geminus https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/geminus/ Sun, 03 Jan 2021 23:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/geminus/ Four Flies are proud and honoured to release the first vinyl reissue of Bruno Nicolai's outstanding original score for GEMINUS, a 1969 Italian TV mini-series directed by Luciano Emmer and starring Walter Chiari, Alida Chelli, and Ira von Fürstenberg.
Originally released under Italian label Gemelli, Nicolai's soundtrack has been remastered from the original master tapes and comes in a glossy, tip-on style jacket featuring the restored original cover artwork, as well as extended liner notes by film critics Francesco Cesari and Roberto Curti.
Bruno Nicolai composed and directed an eclectic score that brings together different music genres and influences, from 60s beat, psych, and progrock to baroque and experimental music. He did not hesitate to mix classical forms and structures with new instruments andremarkable, eccentric arrangements.

Kiss Kiss… Bang Bang (Clear Yellow) RSD25 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/kiss-kiss-bang-bang-clear-yellow-rsd25/ Mon, 17 Mar 2025 23:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/kiss-kiss-bang-bang-clear-yellow-rsd25/ * * * FIRST EVER VINYL RELEASE!!! * * *
"Kiss Kiss... Bang Bang" is a 1966 spy movie directed by Duccio Tessari, starring Giuliano Gemma, Daniele Vargas and George Martin among others. That same year only a 45rpm was released, including the tracks "Love Love Bang Bang" sung by Nancy Cuomo, accompanied by Alessandro Alessandroni's Cantori Moderni, and "Kiss-me-Warren-please". Therefore, this is the first ever vinyl edition of this soundtrack, including sixteen tracks taken from the original session mono master, for a total length of about 38 minutes.
Bruno Nicolai composed a soundtrack based on different versions of the two main themes. "Love Love Bang Bang", the song from the opening credits (A1), is featured with different arrangements: dreamy for sax and piano (A4), baroque classical (A5), march (B1), as a tender lullaby for strings and celesta (B4) and even with a James Bond-style intro (B8). "Kiss-Me-Warren-Please", the main character's love theme, is instead present as a jazz motif with solo sax (A2), trumpet (A6) and clarinet (B2). Bruno Nicolai has also composed evocative suspenseful atmospheres with organ and rhythmic effects to describe the spy side of the plot (A3, A7, B6) and tracks that would perfectly fit in a nightclub context (A8, B5, B7).
First ever LP edition, Record Store Day 2025 exclusive on clear yellow vinyl with 30x30cm insert. Liner notes and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.
