BRIGHTON 64 returns with their fourth album of its second and prolific period. After the intense tour de force that represented the conceptual album El Tren de la Bruja (2017), this veteran band from Barcelona now presents “Como Debe Ser”, a raging political statement to denounce the critical times we’re living in our country where all kinds of freedoms are in danger and against our mediocre and hypocritical political class.

The survival of the fittest in “La cara infame del poder” and “Miedo me das”, death and indifference in “Playas del Mediterraneo”, biased justice in “Juez y parte”, annihilation of freedom of speech in “Este es un país libre”, the inheritance of exile and the Civil War in “Avui he tornat a casa”, manipulation of the media in “Gato por liebre”, and a desperate call for action in “El estado de la nación” or “La flor que sostenía en la mano”. A grim panoramic view in which the band barely deviates during the three minutes of the self-parody “La balada de los pérfidos hermanos Gil”.

11 straight-forward songs, of political rock and fast-paced powerpop co-produced with Paco Loco, whose savoir faire have given a new momentum to the band’s repertoire. A relevant record for the times we’re living. No doubt: the most relevant B64 album to date. THE WAY IT’S MEANT TO BE!

Ciudad Dormida

The iceberg of our mind.
Many of the things we think, feel, suffer or believe in life actually come from an abstract and completely subjective place that inhabits us: our subconscious. As if it were an iceberg, our reality is divided into two parts: the emerged, active and recognizable part for everyone to see; and the submerged, hidden and much more extensive and influential than it seems. This second part, often intangible and indecipherable, makes us who we are and do what we do; and it is precisely the object of artistic study on which Alberto Montero has focused “Ciudad dormida”, his seventh album.
Presented as an invitation to walk the streets of the musician’s subconscious, the Valencian’s new work crosses the borders between the visible and the invisible, leaving us pieces straddling the two worlds. Thus, returning to the path of the most intimate and emotional folk singer-songwriter, and thus connecting with his first works, Alberto Montero, proposes a songbook that tends towards the ethereal and allows us to understand some of the elements that make up his identity, not only artistically but also personally. Some of the main elements, in fact, unify the artist and the person: the search for his essence and the understanding of the mystery of life and the compositional process.
