Stavia (CD) https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/stavia-cd/ Thu, 14 Dec 2017 23:00:00 +0000 http://guerssen.hl1097.dinaserver.com/product/stavia-cd/ In 1972, Ohio based band THE BROTHERHOOD released their only album, "Stavia". It was a private edition of 200 copies, pressed at the legendary Rite custom plant. This rare album is a good example of US acid-rock / hippie psych with slight soul & funk influences: fantastic playing, swirling organ, powerful vocals, top guitar shredding, flute...

"Stavia" has always been one of those shrouded in mystery albums, so rare that some collectors even doubted about its existence. Bootlegged in the '90s in a butchered edition that included two songs from an unrelated band, here's the first ever legit vinyl reissue.

*Includes liner notes by band member John Hurd.

*Remastered sound.

Tracklist: 1. Color Line - 2. Rock & Roll Band - 3. Backdoor - 4. For Her Time - 5. Meditation Part 1 - 6. Uncle - 7. Cry of Love - 8. Tragedy - 9. Meditation Part 2.

Children Of The Mushroom https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/children-of-the-mushroom/ Mon, 10 Feb 2025 23:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/children-of-the-mushroom/ With only one 45 released back at the time, Children Of The Mushroom epitomized the psychedelic-garage sound coming out from California in the late 60s. Formed in Thousand Oaks by Jerry McMillen and Dennis Swanson, they evolved from a mid-60s teen-beat band called The Captives. In 1967, they became Children Of The Mushroom, a name which reflected their new psychedelic sound and image. The following year, they caught the attention of a couple of young producers, who signed the band for a 45 release. Recorded in 1968 for Soho Records, "August Mademoiselle" / "You can't erase a Mirror", is one of the masterpieces from the first psychedelic era: feedback, fuzz, organ, mysterious vocals...

Soon after, the band incorporated a new guitar player, shortened their name to The Mushroom and started playing in a more heavy-psych vein, in a similar style to Iron Butterfly.

This retrospective album includes both tracks from their monster 45 with sound taken from the masters plus previously unreleased tracks by The Mushroom, recorded in 1968. These are raw, lo-fi home recordings (some of the tracks were recorded in a real garage!) with lot of fuzz guitar and organ. It's the sound of a psychedelic band in 1968 playing free and wild, without any producer or record label executive telling them what to do. An incredible document.

CD version includes two newly discovered bonus tracks: fantastic live renditions of the two songs from their 45 recorded at a band reunion in 2006.

*Hard cardboard sleeve
*Remastered sound
* Fold-out colour insert with liner notes / interview with the band members and rare photos / memorabilia

Tracklist:
Side 1: 1. August Mademoiselle - 2. You Can't Erase a Mirror - 3. Blade - 4. It Won't Be Enough
Side 2: 1. Vortex - 2. Care for Me - 3. Exordium (The Mushroom Theme)

Private press hard-rock Holy Grail from Arkansas, 1978.
Guitar driven hard-rock with some cool psychedelic, Southern Rock and melodic AOR touches.

Fyter was a hard-rock band from Morrilton, Arkansas, known for their self-released private album from 1978.

Their music blended powerful hard-rock riffs and solos with psychedelic elements, drawing inspiration from artists like Led Zeppelin, Foghat, Hendrix, Stones, Who…The name “Fyter” was chosen through a creative process involving numerology and wordplay. They performed at various venues, including high school proms, community dances, and clubs.

In 1978, Fyter recorded their self-titled album over three days in Oklahoma City. The album featured tracks like “Where I Stand,” “Monarch,” and “100 Watt Head.”

ORDER NOW AND BE THE FIRST ONE TO GET IT.

Previously unreleased second album by US hard-rock band FYTER.

Their music blended powerful hard-rock riffs and solos with psychedelic elements, drawing inspiration from artists like Led Zeppelin, Foghat, Hendrix, Stones, Who

After recording their debut album, “Fyter”, the band started to work on a possible follow-up. Most of the tracks included here were recorded at a studio in Little Rock owned by a friend of the band except for few ones recorded at the band’s four-track basement studio.

The music contained on “Flying” was there, waiting on tapes in various boxes, in various closets. After 40 years it finally arrives on vinyl.

The Heavy Cruiser project was conceived during the studio sessions for Mama Lion, the band led by Neil Merryweather and Lynn Carey.
Artie Ripp always allowed Neil to experiment / jam in the studio and to record any cool ideas and songs he may come up with. Thanks to that creative freedom, Heavy Cruiser was born during Mama Lion jamming sessions. The initial idea was to operate both bands simultaneously with Lynn taking the backseat for Heavy Cruiser but providing vocals and helping with songwriting. Powerful cover versions of rock classics like "C'mon Everybody" or "Louie Louie" show the band having lot of fun in the studio and there was also room for more experimental sounds like "Miracles Of Pure Device".
