Having immigrated to Egypt at the age of three years old, her family knew the composer Dawood Hosni, and she sang the compositions of Mohamed El Qasabgi and Zakariyya Ahmad. She also sang the compositions of Mohammed Abdel Wahab and her brother Farid al-Atrash, a then rising star musician in his own right. Her voice was one of the few female voices in Arab music world to pose serious competition to that of Umm Kulthum, who is considered to be one of the Arab world's most distinguished singers of the 20th century. Her mysterious death in 1944, in an automobile accident, shocked the public. Journalists spread gossip about her turbulent personal life and an alleged espionage role in World War II.

Recorded on Sept. 9, 1980. Side B starts with the droning 18 minute track "A Tale Of Love," from the same 1980 Mars Studio sessions recorded 3 days before "Guitar Jam" and ends with a 6 minute version of the classic "Field Of Artificial Flowers," recorded in 1972 during the Oz Days studio sessions.
TRACKLIST: A1 Guitar Jam (1980) B1 A Tale Of Love (1980) B2 Field Of Artificial Flowers (1972)

Cosmic Discotheque: 12 Junkshop Disco Funk Gems https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/cosmic-discotheque-12-junkshop-disco-funk-gems/ Mon, 06 Jan 2025 23:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/cosmic-discotheque-12-junkshop-disco-funk-gems/ '70s Disco Music wasn't just Abba or Studio 54. In the same way that punk or glam rock were evolving at the same time, the "disco" phenomenon generated a plethora of obscure and bizarre studio projects which remained unknown for decades, despite often being more inspired and creative than the few ones that reached stardom and sold millions of copies. 45 rpm singles that remained unsold, sitting in junkshops all over the world for decades hide forgotten gems, revealing genius and avant-garde only guilty of not being at the right place at the right time. Whether it's Moroder-oriented proto synth-wave, groovy space-disco or acid afro funk, volume 1 of the Cosmic Discotheque series is all about rediscovering those forgotten treasures while setting your dancefloor on fire!
