In his first and self-titled record, 'Chico Bernardes' has arranged and recorded all the instruments, with the support of Gui Jesus Toledo from SELO RISCO and owner of Estúdio Canoa, where the recordings took place. Surrounded by lots of coffee and low lights, Chico recorded part of the songs as if he was singing for nobody, in real time. The other half of the record was filled with drums, bass, electric guitar, percussions and a bunch of keys, from old casio keyboards to an indian harmonium. The songs structured above nylon strings guitar were recorded with a 1968 Di Giorgio Romeo 3, frequently used on the classical brazilian records from the 70's and beyond, that carries a very popular Bossa Nova tone, but Chico reworked it's approach with the use of alternate tunings, on a closer proximity to artists such as Duncan Browne, Sibylle Baier and Joni Mitchell. For the steel strings, he used a 60's Martin 000, in order to reach the old and warm wooden sound of the record. The Lyrics mostly talk about his wandering dreams about different affections with people, the transitional moments of a lifetime and self discoveries, from his essential core to the external world.

Catch Prichard's newest release, I Still Miss Theresa Benoit (2021), is their most expansive album to date, as they weave the musical and literary themes that have influenced the band's career.
After half a decade in Europe as front man for the mercurial Brittsommar, Sawyer returned to the States to begin a new project. In Oakland, California, he found his way into the DIY music scene where he met Travis (pedal steel), Chris (bass), and Tim (drums).

 

The band's first release Eskota sprang from a recording session in a ghost town east of Dallas. Having only brought a guitar and a microphone, Eskota was a sendoff for the former guitar-based folk project. 2019's release of Utter Disbelief dove deeper with classic drum machine rhythms, gritty Mellotron, and gliding pad melodies - a change in style through the arrangement of acoustic, electronic, and ambient driven arrangements.

Many of the things we think, feel, suffer or believe in life actually come from an abstract and completely subjective place that inhabits us: our subconscious. As if it were an iceberg, our reality is divided into two parts: the emerged, active and recognizable part for everyone to see; and the submerged, hidden and much more extensive and influential than it seems. This second part, often intangible and indecipherable, makes us who we are and do what we do; and it is precisely the object of artistic study on which Alberto Montero has focused "Ciudad dormida", his seventh album.
Presented as an invitation to walk the streets of the musician's subconscious, the Valencian's new work crosses the borders between the visible and the invisible, leaving us pieces straddling the two worlds. Thus, returning to the path of the most intimate and emotional folk singer-songwriter, and thus connecting with his first works, Alberto Montero, proposes a songbook that tends towards the ethereal and allows us to understand some of the elements that make up his identity, not only artistically but also personally. Some of the main elements, in fact, unify the artist and the person: the search for his essence and the understanding of the mystery of life and the compositional process.
