Sweet Dandelion presents you the milestone album of British R&B. Alexis Korner, interested in the new Blues and Jazz sounds coming from America, started playing at the Blues Sessions that Chris Barber set up at The Marquee.

It was there that Korner formed, together with Ciryl Davies, the Blues Incorporated, who shortly after obtained their own weekly residence that, as the original liner notes to the album read, would gather every thursday a crowd of more than seven hundred people. The band would offer a number of emerging musicians of the early 1960s the chance to join them on stage. The list of artists who participated is inmense, and includes essential artists in British rock history, such as Mick Jagger, Graham Bond, Eric Burdon, Long John Baldry, Brian Jones, Art Wood, Ginger Baker and many, many more.

The band, and this seminal debut album, proved to be the starting point for the whole British R&B scene and for most of the early and mid 60s english rock / beat bands, turning this album into an undeniable slice of rock'n'roll history.

Antoine

During the second half of the Sixties in Italy, besides the beat music trend ad the Italian-sung cover songs of famous artists from other countries, there were some who, such as Jolly Records, ‘imported’ some French artists, sometimes granting them an even greater success than they had in their own country. The first Antoine’s popular song, inspired by his trips, was “Le divagazioni d’Antoine” (Les élucubrations d’Antoine), which can be found in this eponymous LP. Among the other titles, here we have “La tramontana” and the famous “Pietre”, whose chorus is still today very well known in the Italian popular music imaginary. These two songs were presented at the San Remo Festival, respectively in 1968 and 1967.

Really impressive concept album with religious / spiritual lyrics, raw basement sound, strong songwritting and superb musicianship. It’s A Hard Life

The Atlantics, an amazing aussie band active from 1963 to 1969 who recorded quite a good number of killer tracks, 14 of them compiled here in a 500 copies limited LP officially out on Rumble Skunk label out of Greece. Features the killer garage-psych anthem “It’s a hard life”, the psychedelic “Light Shades of Dark (part 1)”, some crude R&B versions of classics such as “Pretty Thing” or “You can’t judge a book by its cover” and a great cover of Beau Brummels’ “You tell me why”. Comes with linernotes.

Collected Singles: Super Deluxe Edition

Not many albums can get you in the mood to blow out your speakers quite like Kath “1”, the hideously rare and expensive 1974 low-fi, semi-ramshackle DIY psychedelic LP made by members of Maryland band Badge, recorded in the home of band leader Val Rogolino (and, yes, dedicated to his girlfriend and their pet monkey!). What Patrick the Lama said in Acid Archives about Kath, is equally applicable to Badge: “Obscure and impressive melodic basement garage/psych with a lo-fi atmosphere that would have most purveyors flip out… at times the vibe is almost like Mystery Meat or Index, and that’s not something you run across every day… Nuts lo-fi recording quality and impossible-to-figure production values gives this a nicely zonked almost real-people vibe. Keyboards, fuzz, heap of amateur avant spirit.”

The fact that Badge had been a going band for awhile, and that they released several singles and EPs (written by Val and his best friend Cheese Sollers and recorded the same way, on the same equipment as the Kath album, seems to have been overlooked) until now. Here are those singles and EP tracks, lovingly remastered and presented as a coherent LP compilation.

Badge formed 13 March 1970, a Friday: Cheese Sollers (guitar/vocals); Jim O’Dell (bass/vocals); Val Rogolino (drums/vocals). Badge played on into the 1970’s with several band member changes, adding at one point female vocalists and horn players. Cheese and Val remained the core of the group at all times. “In 1970, Cheese and I started recording original songs with two stereo tape recorders, using PA systems for mixing. That was the beginning of the recording bug for us. We purchased a professional tape recorder, a TEAC 2340 four-track machine. This really opened up our recording process.” –Val Rogolino

Amazing garage punk cult band featured on the “Brazilian Nuggets” Vol 1 and Vol 2 compilations. Recorded in 1968, this EP is almost impossible to find and has never been sold on Discogs. It comes with a 12-page booklet with liner notes, photos and memorabilia. This release is a collaboration between Discos Nada, Fatiado and Munster Records.

El Sonido de Los Belking’s

Los Belking’s was a groundbreaking instrumental rock band in South America, blending surf, garage, and easy listening styles over six years and five albums.
