"De Lusioni" is comprised of 7 songs -clocking at 71 minutes- which the band has described at an "experimental demo but of rich forms and ideas later developed in a more organic way."

The massive reverb on the vocals and guitar on the opening track, "1783," immediately reminds one of Paul Chain. Some songs find the band dropping into the experimental/theatrical realm with vocals that sound intoned and spontaneous. They tend to soar over the music, not quite sung, not quite intoned - but some neither/neither world in between the two. The organic nature of the compositions and performance comes to mind as a way to relate the overall impression of the recording that somehow draws a comparison to Velvet Underground. Yes, that fueled with a heavy dose of Paul Chain / early Death SS and brief hints of 70s Italo Prog would adequately convey the mood of the music herein: hypnotic and rhythmic. There are darker, moodier moments, and some longer expressive passages, allowing one to get lost in the mood created by the eerie, otherworldly guitar work. In the band's own words:

"De lusioni" is really our origin and the result of a real fervor around the expressive core that we had been defining during those years. Even if this may seem paradoxical, the corpus of songs that compose it still makes it the living heart of our musical experience, so much so that, thirty-five years after its release, this restored reissue forces us today to consider the relevance of a 'work then held stubbornly out of date. This crossing of time is testimony to a mystery that is renewed and questions us about the place from which our music really comes and what it is really destined for."

The candy on the cake is represented by a gallery of those rare far-eastern-styled artworks which have become true collectables! Starting from Hush, from their debut album in 1968 to Hallelujah one year later, an epic John Lord rendition on keyboards one year later. A remarkable collection of rarities on a hi-quality disc. Can you hear the difference in the mixes?

But in fact this album wasn't a solo album but could be described at the third Aera album of Aera's first decade line-up. All those great musicians like sax player Klaus Kreuzeder, drummer Wolfgang Teske, violinist Christoph Krieger and a lot of guest musicians like Alto Pappert (formerly Kraan) and Aeras second decade musicians like Matz Steinke on bass and Limbus on percussions contributed to this great album. The first 4 titles on the CD (formerly A-Side of the album) are in the tradition of the second album "Hand und Fuß". "Psychochinese im Stanzwerk" reminds to Amon Düül's Deutsch-Nepal. For the first time Muck Groh uses vocals in his compositions in a folky style and "Blinde Kuh" reminds a little bit to the early German new wave bands like Spliff or Nina Hagen Band. All in all this album shows many facets of Muck Grohs composer abilities and convinces with its clever arrangements. CD comes with comprehensive booklet with rare and unseen photos and there are 8 bonus tracks taken from a concert from 1981. Secret tip!

Islands In Space (CD) https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/islands-in-space-cd/ Tue, 12 Jan 2016 23:00:00 +0000 http://guerssen.hl1097.dinaserver.com/product/islands-in-space-cd/ "...we can make [enough] progress inside our heads and the heads of our friends to lay the foundations of an intergalactic life more meaningful than our earthbound condition..." - John Peel, International Times

Mirroring the sentiment of the prescient UK radio legend in his Vibrations column for the International Times in the '70s, LightDreams leader Paul Marcano took one further step beyond his intimate colleagues and chose to spread his ideals concerning peaceful outer space colonization to all with open ears. Islands In Space, dotted with acoustic jams, backwards guitars, lyrics alluding to the British progressive era, smoking hot electric leads, synths galore, and the dreamiest of melodies, is both Marcano's love letter to the work of science-fiction author Gerard K. O'Neill and the psych-tinged folk explorers who came before him such as McDonald & Giles.

Originally privately-issued in 1981 in an edition of 1,000 copies, Islands In Space explores space travel and cosmic ideology making for a sci-fi psych odyssey and is filled with atmospheric, lysergic creations atop a hybrid of sounds from the cosmic-psych/progressive-folk/new age spectrum. Home-recorded (yet hi-fi), Islands In Space carries a singular quality, defies easy categorization and has long been savored over by collectors of otherworldly joys.
Got Kinda Lost Records is absolutely ecstatic to allow this singular, beatific work another chance to shine from Earth's surface to the outer reaches of the galaxy.

RIYL: Dreamies, Donovan, Pete Fine, Robert Lester Folsom's hazy, synth-led moments, McDonald & Giles, Ramases, Simones, and the out-of-time bliss of Bobb Trimble, et al.

"The album's free floating dreaminess is grounded in solid songwriting and impressive arrangements, [making Islands In Space] one of the better albums from the era; consistent, talented and transporting in a friendly psychedelic way." - Patrick "The Lama" Lundborg (The Acid Archives)

Highlights:

First time reissue of this under-the-radar masterpiece, with remastered sound.

Recorded in 1981 while having more in common with '60s and '70s psych and folk innovators, providing the album an "out of time" quality.

Insert features informative liner notes by collector Jack D. Fleischer, culled from interviewing the artist, full lyrics and rare photos.

CD edition features a full-color booklet.

Classic Epics (CD) https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/classic-epics-cd/ Sun, 13 Jul 2014 22:00:00 +0000 http://guerssen.hl1097.dinaserver.com/product/classic-epics-cd/ Steve Linnegar was an accomplished songwriter, musician, painter and martial arts disciple. A legendary figure from the South African 60s-70s underground music scene, the "hippie king of Cape Town" formed the Snakeshed band in the 70s along with top guitar player Martin Kopelowitz. Refusing offers from some record labels who insisted they should go "commercial", they decided to record and release their first album, "Classic Epics", all by themselves with collaborations from keyboard player / producer Peter Hubner and legendary session guitar player Jehtro Butow.

Released in 1982 on their own private label, this is one of South African Prog/Psych crown jewels. Layers of acoustic / electric guitars, Gilmour-alike guitar solos, ultra-melodic vocals, effects, cool Oriental-Tao inspired lyrics...Culminating on the haunting 14-minutes long "Desert".
For the first time remastered from the original tapes.
Booklet with rare photos and liner notes by Aaron Milenski (Acid Archives).

"Mysterious psych prog monster LP which gets better & better...Dreamy organ & soaring fuzz leads, at times like a cross between Marcus & Pink Floyd with folk elements & melodics all over the rhythmic grooves. Eastern tinged lyrics & samurai charging vocals which float amidst the pools of organ & catch late Beatle harmonic embers" - Paul Major

"Terrific flowing westcoasty 70s rock with deep psych atmospheres on the 14-minute "Desert" - Patrick Lundborg (Lysergia.com)

Tracklist:
Tao Ch'ang Wu Wei - Monitoring - Kamakura Dragons - Lamplight Shines - Desert - Cry

Piccola Rapsodia dell’Ape https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/piccola-rapsodia-dellape/ Mon, 10 Feb 2025 23:00:00 +0000 http://guerssen.hl1097.dinaserver.com/product/piccola-rapsodia-dellape/ In 1980, while musical genres like punk and new wave were enjoying an incredible popularity and progressive rock seemed to be just an old faded memory, Le Orme, completely disinterested in following the trends of the moment, continued in the wake of popular/folk/baroque music with classical influences that started the previous year with the beautiful "Florian".

The line-up remained the same, with the historical trio of Aldo Tagliapietra (cello, guitar, voice), Antonio Pagliuca (piano) and Micky Dei Rossi (vibraphone, marimba, glockenspiel, percussion) accompanied by the increasingly fundamental presence of Germano Serafin (violin, guitar, bouzouki, charango): in fact, all the LP songs also carry his signature, in addition to those of Pagliuca and Tagliapietra.

Serafin would shortly leave the group who, probably not just by coincidence, will then contaminate their sound with the synthetic artifacts typical of the 80's. But that's another story: "Piccola rapsodia dell'ape" remains a genuine album, another step in an unrepeatable and unparalleled artistic evolution.

VM label reissue on coloured vinyl, faithful to the original 1980 edition, with gatefold cover and inner envelope with song lyrics.
