It's urgent and proud. Hot, crowded, amped venues scattered across L.A. It's big hair, little hair, guys, girlz. It's catchy, it's topical, it's angry, it's playful, it's live. And it lives on in a rocking, throbbing, sights-and-sounds showcase. Turn it on, turn it up, this means war: The Cramps live at Urgh! A Music War.

Vol. 2 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/vol-2-3/ Wed, 02 Nov 2022 23:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/vol-2-4/ In September 1978, Charlie Feathers, along with his son Bubba on guitar and Pee Wee Truite on double bass, recorded a special programme on NBC TV in Houston, Texas, where he played several of his classic songs in the same way he did in the 1950s: without drums and with all the mojo of the original rockabilly.
That recording has the same essence as his tracks 25 years earlier on Meteor or King Records, so much so that they could pass for alternate takes of some of his hits, or newly discovered original cuts, and, although they have been released several times on LP and CD, they have never been pressed on 45 rpm single. Until now.
Sleazy Records collects 6 of those tracks and releases them in a deluxe 4 x 7" collection, including a postcard inside each one, and making with the back covers an original puzzle of Charlie and his band in the late 70's.
The four singles are also completed with Charlie's legendary cover of Hank Thompson's WILD SIDE OF LIFE, recoded in 1969 at Judd Phillips' Select-O-Hits studio in Memphis with his old Sun Records colleagues Marcus Van Story and Ramon Mauphin, and the second version of RAIN, recorded with Bubba Feathers in the early 70s.
A deluxe package that brings together eight fantastic rockabillies that certainly deserved to be released in this format.
Side A: Teir It Up
Side B: Wild Side Of Life

Why Wait ‘Til Tomorrow 74-81 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/why-wait-til-tomorrow-74-81/ Mon, 05 Jun 2023 22:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/why-wait-til-tomorrow-74-81/ GO, GO, GORILLAS! Literally everything HAMMERSMITH GORILLAS ever recorded that is not on their classic "Message To The World" LP. 26 tracks total - clocking in at a whopping 84 minutes! Includes all 6 of their singles, 7 outtakes never before available on vinyl, 1 aborted single, plus 6 unreleased live songs recorded in early '77, 3 of which were never recorded in a studio. All but two of the tracks are from the master tapes. Those two masters are missing. If that wasn't enough, there are also new liner notes/new interviews with Jesse Hector and Gary Anderson by PHIL KING, plus unpublished photos! THE HAMMERSMITH GORILLAS are one of the great UK "should-have-been" groups of the 1970s. Chalk it up to being ahead of their time, bad luck, and/or bad management. Both singer/guitarist JESSE HECTORand bassist ALAN BUTLER had already been in what was arguably Britain's first punk group CRUSHED BUTLER, formed in 1969. Drummer, GARY ANDERSON, was the last piece of the puzzle, but the world wasn't ready for the lads then, and still wasn't ready for them nearly ten years later as Punk exploded across the country and up the charts. Bizarre management tactics such as not having the group do any live gigs the first two years of their existence didn't help matters. The music speaks for itself on this massive two album set and HAMMERSMITH GORILLAS are more than worthy of such treatment. So great was this group, that even when forced to record a cover of a mediocre-at-best Stones' tune, "Luxury", they managed to make it their own and turn it into a minor moody masterpiece. The real heart of the matter is JESSE HECTOR's originals. HECTOR is too unique to be tied down to any one genre and his incredible controlled vibrato is the best since BOLAN. Since the punters like to be told what other artists a certain group sounds like, the closest we can come up with is a strange amalgam of SMALL FACES/SLADE/T. REX, but they are also their own completely unique thing. Jesse may have never been able to write a tune like "Telegram Sam", but BOLAN didn't have a song like "Gatecrasher" in him either.

Loco Amor / Ven Cerca (7″ 33rpm) https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/loco-amor-ven-cerca-7-33rpm/ Thu, 03 Oct 2024 22:00:00 +0000 https://wpguerssen-test.odoo.rgbconsulting.com/product/loco-amor-ven-cerca-7-33rpm/ Julissa, the Woman Who Was Censored in Mexican Rock!
Rock and Roll in Mexico had an impact practically all over the world, yet it was never free from censorship. Several songs made it to the radio, and among them was the track "Ven Cerca," performed by Los Spitfires and their singer Julissa.
Julissa entered the entertainment industry at a very young age, as she was only 13 years old when she started singing with The Spitfires, a rock and roll group formed by her brother Luis on bass, Juan Ramón Sordo on drums, José Luis de la Huerta, and Manuel González Galindo, better known as Johnny Dynamo, on guitars.
Los Spitfires, a band originating from Mexico City and formed in 1960, were one of five winning groups in a contest organized by CBS Columbia and the Radio Éxitos station, held in November of that same year. Los Escupefuego were the runners-up, as first place went to Los Hooligans, who, in addition to recording an album, would also appear in a movie. The other groups that won the opportunity to record an album with CBS were: Los Loud Jets, Los Blue Caps, and Los Sparks.
Los Spitfires only recorded two tracks: "Loco Amor" and "Ven Cerca," Spanish versions of Paul Anka's "Crazy Love" and Johnny Restivo's "Come Closer." Although these songs are not widely known, except among true fans, they serve as a reference to the early rock being made in Mexico during that time.
At the time, all rock musicians were copying foreign hits, including the musical arrangements, and simply translating the lyrics into Spanish. For Julissa, this task wasn't difficult, as she was fluent in English. "Ven Cerca" ("Come Closer") with its highly suggestive lyrics, was the first song she recorded with her group. She translated the lyrics exactly as Johnny Restivo sang them in English. It began like this: "Come closer, just a little bit closer, because I want to hug and kiss you, come closer." Julissa sang it with whispers and sighs, and with the microphone so open, all her breaths and gasps sounded like genuine moans. Very soon, the record was pulled from the market. Interestingly, she had no idea what those suggestive expressions implied, as she was almost still a child.
That record 45s it is very difficult to find and is a rare piece sought after by collectors from around the world!
